New Tool Helps Parents Catch Early Signs of Cavities in Kids

As parents, we all want to keep our children's smiles healthy and avoid painful dental problems. A company called CaviSense has introduced technology that makes it easier to spot the earliest signs of cavities—before they turn into bigger issues.

CaviSense creates simple, radiation-free tests that check teeth for early warning signs of tooth decay. They recently highlighted their latest developments at a major pediatric dentistry conference.

Quick and Easy Testing

Their current CaviSense Toothpick test works in 10 seconds. You place it between teeth or in grooves to check for acid activity that leads to cavities. A color change shows if there's an early problem.

They're also developing a full-mouth tray that could screen all of a child's teeth quickly in one simple step. Both options are designed to be gentle, fast, and child-friendly—no X-rays or uncomfortable procedures needed.

Catch Problems Early

Dr. Gili Naveh, who founded CaviSense, says the goal is to catch problems early so dentists can use gentler treatments. This could mean fewer fillings and happier kids at the dentist.

Parents using the at-home test kits have reported catching issues early enough to avoid more serious (and expensive) treatments.

This early-detection tool gives parents and pediatric dentists a better way to stay ahead of cavities. Tools like these make preventive care simpler and less stressful for the whole family.
